Up Close And Personal With Lou Hemsey.
Hello Lou Hemsey, and welcome to Authopublisher.com. It’s nice to have you with us.You are a self published author, tell us what your book is called and what is it about?
“The Legend of Justice and Diamonds” It is about the original origin of Good and Evil, set in the time of the first Earth (pre bibile). It is the story of the infamous outlaw, The Jack of Diamonds, and The Lady Justice. All is told by the first Angelic being created by God, Acellus, The Creator’s scribe. Acellus scrolls take us back in the past where future began, where the first Earth was ruled by the first King who cared for none, The King of Clubs. The impassioned love story between the The Jack and Justice, burns with action, adventure, lore, intrigue, deception, romance and GOD. It is a Spiritual Fantasy.
Tell us a little bit about your writing process? What methods do you use to write and how did you make it through the grueling process of writing your book?
This particular book was originally started many years back as a series of songs when I was contemplating a long form music video. From there it went into a script first. And then from the script into a novel which covers two scripts. The process was long but flowed beautifully as the story kept unfolding in my mind. The only addition was; when I went from Script to novel, I added the narrator, the Creator’s scriber, Acellus (AH-SELL-US) to tell the story and then integrated him into the story.
Explain to us the process you took to get your book published, from formatting your manuscript to preparing it for print all the way to getting an ISBN and the book cover design.
I did it all myself. Writing in Word, editing it myself, and then went out for a second pair of eyes for typos or misspellings, got my own IBSN, I did my own rough cover design and then had an artist refine it and finish it, and then went with Xulon Press for self publishing.
Did you use the services of a book coach or a self publishing company to help you though the process or did you do it yourself? Tell us about your experiences.
I did it all myself. When I went to Xulon, all was done, just had to submit the assets to them. I am only somewhat pleased with working with Xulon. Too many restrictions and formalities to affect a simple change.
What would you do differently with the publishing of your next book?
Make sure that there is a clear understanding of what steps are required to make any changes.
How did you market your book? Can you share some of your creative/non-conventional ways/secrets on how you sold your book?
Internet, email, blurbs, and Internet Radio interviews.
Share with us the different platforms you use to sell your book (bookstores, signing, affiliate programs, website etc.).
Writers day at bookstores, Interviews on: “The Author’s Show,” “Spiritually Raw,” multiple occurrences, “The Rock n’ Roll Oracle show,” Also won “One of the best 50 new writers contest: for the Author’s show,
Do you use social media in book promotion, and if so, which platforms work best for you? Can you share some tricks you got making it work for you?
Not too much as of right now
Care to share some numbers? How many books have you sold to date?
A modest amount, I am still spreading the word.
How was your book initially received? Has it been reviewed? What was your response to the reviews?
Super reviews, go to Amazon and check out Bonnie Cherovet’s review!
How do you handle negative feedback from critics?
Fortunately, none so far.
Where are some of the places where you sell your book besides through book distributors, your website, book stores etc.
Amazon and Barnes and Noble
Do have any future projects you’d like to tell us about?
I am an Indie Screenwriter, Director and Producer as well as long time film composer. I am writing the sequel to “The Legend of Justice and Diamonds,” as well in pre production for and Indie Film titled: “Matter Of Honor.”
