Weekly Wrap Up 4 Feb 2011
I haven’t done this for a while but think it’s time to do so. Here are the posts of the week and excerpts from them to whet your appetite.
Will Nelson Mandela’s Death Boost The Publishing Industry?
When Nelson Mandela dies it would obviously be devastating to millions of people. Now, I think that a lot of books, if not hundreds, will surface about Mandela, his thoughts, his life etc. Many of them unauthorized, of course. How many of those books do you think will be self published? Not a lot, if at all. Why do I say that? Well, because publishing houses will absolutely jump at every opportunity to publish a Mandela book; major marketing campaigns etc. Heck, I even think they will commission some ghostwriters to write books from prominent members of the global society like Desmond Tutu – even though he will have written nothing.
Comment Competition – Win a Prize Worth $95!
To make sure there is enough controversy, I will post a reasonably controversial post for people to comment on and people can go crazy. Obviously, the posts will be in the line of the prize that is available to be won. (Ahem, loading Jeff Probst voice) ‘Wanna know what you’re playing for?
Copyright Isn’t Quite Your Rights to Copy, Right?
I have recently read a very interesting post at HubPages on copywritten writing, and I’d love to relate this to other questions I recently asked myself when it comes to writing researched articles. I have actually come upon quite a bit of research regarding it and I though it very relevant in our copy/paste industry today. I will look at aspects of the freelancing industry, blogging and the many infringements possible, and of course copy-writing on other works.
I hope you enjoy this weeks posts and that you ahve a great weekend. There weren’t a lot of participation in the competition this week, so I might have to extend the competition, perhaps to a month to make it more interesting and do more promotion.
